Whaleback raises funds for new night ski lights
Since taking over as general manager in 2021, Jon Hunt has been working to modernize Whaleback Mountain in New Hampshire. They have invested heavily in summer activities, as they are currently working with the Upper Valley Disc Golf Association to install a disc golf course, have added a weekly summer volleyball league, and have regular parties and concerts. open mic. Their future plans include a new T-bar, ongoing renovations to their double chairlift, improved snowmaking systems, an expanded clearing network, and more. Currently, the non-profit ski area’s big project is to improve their night skiing.
Yesterday, Whaleback launched a fundraiser to improve his watchdog situation. Their night skiing hosts hundreds of kids for after-school programs and ski racers for their Thursday Night League. Some of their current lights don’t cover the parts of their trails that are open to night skiing.
As pictured above, highlighted trails will see new energy-efficient night lights: Upper Lift Line, Spout, Scrimshaw, and Canyon. These are some of the most open trails from the top of Whaleback, so having reliable lights is essential. So far they have raised over $8600. You can see the fundraiser here.
