Debut in surfing, swimming, skateboarding, gymnastics, basketball triathlon events
For the first time in history, surfing made its debut at the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2020.
Hawaiians John John Florence and Carissa Moore of Team USA competed on Saturday at Tsurigasaki Beach on the Bōsō Peninsula just outside of town.
The events included swimming, skateboarding, gymnastics, basketball and a triathlon, among others.
China leads the game with six gold, one silver and four bronze. Followed by Japan with five gold and one silver, and the United States with four gold, two silver and four bronze.
